Vanish Your Stress!

Is the long, 40+ hour week in addition to daily family obligations taking its toll on you? A long day at work followed by duties at home can deplete your energy and fill you with stress. Did you know that a majority of all adults suffer adverse health effects from stress, including heart problems, diabetes, skin problems and depression?   That's why it's so important to find ways to relax and de-stress so you can be the best YOU possible!  Try these suggestions to unwind after a pressure-filled day.

- Keep the office in its place. Once you walk out of the office, leave all that "work stuff" behind.  Worrying all night over a negative meeting or bad encounter with your boss is not going to fix the situation.  It will only make you miserable.  Leave it at work and enjoy your family for the rest of the evening.

- Exercise. Believe it or not, exercise in any form reduces stress.  It pumps up your endorphins for that "feel-good" effect while improving your mood and building self-confidence.  Whether you take a yoga class, spin class, or briskly walk around the block, get yourself moving!  You will immediately feel better!

- Get a Massage. Visit the spa on your way home and relax with a deep tissue massage to lower your blood pressure, and reduce stress hormone levels as well as heart rate.  You will feel rejuvenated!  You can't afford to miss out on these healthy benefits!

- Take a Bubble Bath. A bubble bath is a great way to unwind.  It gives you some necessary "ME" time and eases muscle aches. Add in a dash of de-stressing bath salts to aid in the relief of tired, sore muscles.  Light some candles, turn on the music and RELAX!!

- De-stress Your Face.  Stress can cause acne, rosacea, cold sores, psoriasis, and other unsightly blemishes.  Let your spa team develop the best treatment plan to keep you looking radiant and healthy.  Don't allow daily stress to deprive you of your beauty!

- Get a spa mani/pedi.  Most manicures and pedicures include exfoliation of the skin to remove dead cells, smoothing the surface and stimulating regeneration. Special treatments and moisturizers are massaged into the arms, hands, legs and feet to improve blood flow and relieve aches and pains. All of this while you sit back and relax.  And you leave with fabulous looking hands and feet!  What more can a girl ask for?

Learning to take care of yourself is a process. The demands of daily life aren't going away.  However, you can learn to manage the stress from these occurrences by investing in yourself.  Take some time out, unwind, and enjoy being you!

Fall Trends

September 22nd is the First Day of Fall! Finally, some relief from the heat! That fall freshness is in the air and you can sit outside to enjoy a pleasant breeze.  How nice!  But, you also need to spruce up that wardrobe, update that hairdo, repair your skin and refresh your make-up so you can be stylish and look your best this fall.  Here's what's trending this year:

- Neutrals are big this year.  Consider shades of gray, such as charcoal and slate, the new neutral this season. Check out Michael Kors and Oscar De La Renta for classic ideas.

- Color-blocking various colors in one outfit in hues that are a bit off are also popular for fall.  Don't be surprised if you see black, white, navy and camel in one ensemble. DKNY, Victoria Beckham and The Row have some interesting variations of this fashion trend.

- Green is the "go to" color this year. Deep, rich shades of green paired with black scarves, boots, and gloves are a must.  Look for Kenneth Cole and Calvin Klein to lead the pack with this new trend!

- Another must-have for fall is leather.  It's back and it's bold! We're going to see that "street-wise gone classy" look in leather this year.  From boots to skirts, to pants, to overcoats....leather is making a comeback! Altuzarra, Donna Karan and Lacoste are just a few of the big names showcasing chic looks in leather this season.

Once you pull together the perfect outfit, it's important to style the perfect hair, get glowing skin, and add that final touch of make-up to complete the look.  Here's what's happening in hair, skin and make-up this year:

- The Low Ponytail.  Ponytails positioned at the nape of the neck were popular this spring and summer, and they're carrying over into fall.  Enhance the look with loose, carefree strands and you're all set!

- Natural, wavy hair and sexy, stick straight styles are staying put this season.  Both trends have been around for a while and they're not going anywhere.  Change it up by moving the part from the side to the middle or vice versa to keep it fresh and new.

- It's important to get your skin in check this time of year, as well.  You need to exfoliate the damage away from the summer heat and sun, and prepare your skin for the winter ahead.  Consult your esthetician so she can get you started on the right skin care regimen for you!

- Make-up always completes your look! Red or wine-hued lips paired with shadows in shades of prune or pumpkin are popular accents this fall.  And don't forget the mascara!  As always, long, full lashes are a must!

This fall will introduce some great, new trends and highlight some oldies, but goodies.  Mix and match, have fun with it, and step out in style!
