7 Ways to Stay Cool this Summer

The hot summer days will soon be upon us! You may head to the beach, the lake, a park, or simply stay home to stay cool. Do you ever wonder what people did before air conditioning? Most can’t even imagine living without it. Some people do… those who are living green and, though you may not be one of those people who would give up the comfort of the cool environment, there are some things you can do to stay cool this summer without breaking the bank.

Dress Lightly
It’s always best to wear loose light weight, light colored natural fabrics, such as cotton, silk, or linen. Try to avoid synthetic fabrics, such as polyester, acrylics, and rayon, as they hold the heat and don’t allow skin to breath.

Keep a Cool Head
Splash cold water on your head or wet a towel and put it in the freezer, then put over your head or back of neck. This will quickly lower the body temperature, which will last for a while.

Cold Feet
The body radiates heat from the head, hands, and feet. Soaking the feet in cold water will efficiently cool the body. Make it extra cool by adding ice!

Keep Hydrated
Drink plenty of water (at least eight ounces every hour). When you are well hydrated, your body will feel cooler. Also, when you sweat from the heat, your body loses water and electrolytes, which must be replenished.

Don’t Gorge, Graze!
It’s much better to eat six smaller meals, rather than three large meals, especially in the summer time! Ever notice how you feel warmer after eating a big meal? It’s not because the food was hot, it’s because the protein-laden food boosts the metabolic fires. It’s better to eat lighter foods, such as salads, fresh fruits and veggies, rather than heavier, heartier meals. Eating smaller, more frequent meals will help you feel cooler and is much healthier no matter what season!

Hydrating Mask
Cool off at the spa with a nice refreshing, hydrating mask. It will lower your body temperature and leave you feeling fresh and rejuvenated. Call the spa and reserve your appointment today!

Cool Covers
A great way to stay cool in the bed is to bag up your sheets and toss them in the freezer prior to going to bed. You may also enjoy a hot water bottle filled with ice water to add to the cooling effect, which will last for several hours. If possible, use organic cotton sheets, as they will keep you much cooler. If cost is an issue, it’s good to at least have organic cotton pillow cases, since a cool head keeps the body cooler.

These are just a few creative ways to keep you cool. With strategic planning, you can summer proof your home to prevent heat and sunlight from entering, which will lead a long way to having a cooler summer.

Practice and share these few tips to stay cool and you will be shouting hooray on those sunny summer days!

Make it a Big Day for Dad!

From teaching us to ride a bike to teaching us to drive a car, Dads are great teachers and mentors. They make the world a much better and safer place in which to live. Working so hard for many years to take care of the family, it’s a no brainer that he deserves the utmost respect and gratitude. While nothing could possibly pay him back for all that he’s done, these great gift ideas are sure to put a big smile in his heart!

Cook His Favorite Meal
They say the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach and Dad certainly is not the exception! Tell him to sit back and relax, while you cook up his favorite foods and wait on him. He’ll feel like a king, as you dote on him hand and foot. Be sure to keep his glass filled and the TV set to his favorite station!

New Slippers
After all of the pounding Dad has done to his feet, working hard to care for his family all of these years, they deserve some good pampering and care. A nice, cushy pair of slippers are the perfect gift. His feet will feel so nice that he’ll be thanking you all year!

The Gift of Giving
Charity is a true gift from the heart. Honor your father by finding a good charitable cause or a few and give a donation in his name. Not only will you warm his heart, but you will also be helping those who need it the most!

A Spa Day
Most people think of sending Mom to the spa on her day, but what about Dad? His wellness is just as important as everyone else’s! Head on down to the spa to pick up some gift certificates for a full spa day or even if it’s just a full body massage. Either way, he’ll feel nice and relaxed and know you are concerned about his wellbeing!

Take Me Out to the Ball Game!
Pick up some tickets to the next game of your Dad’s favorite sports team. This is a gift that has double the fun, because you can join Dad for some great quality time too!

Car Wash
Surprise Dad by washing his car! Be sure to go the extra mile and detail it, making every bit sparkle! He’ll get to ride in pride knowing you took such good care of his wheels.

With a bit of planning and energy, you can whip up the perfect Father’s Day for Dad. Using one of the above ideas or combining them, Dad will definitely be delighted to know you thought of him. When all is said and done, don’t forget to tell him how much you love and appreciate him! Words can have a remarkable impact and mean much more than any gift money can buy!!! Happy Father’s Day, Dad!

How do I make the most out of my spray tans?

How do I make the most out of my spray tans?

Here are a few quick tips on how to prolong your air brush tan:

Exfoliate lightly
Lightly exfoliate every few days with Bora Bora Body Polish to remove the superficial layers of dead skin cells right on the surface and remove some of the previous tan's speckling.

Add more color
Use South Seas Tahitian Tan Mist body spray - Keep the bottle at least three to five inches away from your skin and move it in a circular motion as you spray. If one area is more faded than another, spray more heavily in the lighter area, allow that area to dry, then go over the entire area again to blend everything together.

Blend it in
Use a makeup sponge to blend the new tan with the old and to remove excess spray. Don't dry out. Apply Moorea Moisturizing Shea Butter Lotion all over every evening before bed.

Make it last
Use South Seas Tan extender, a light blend of DHA which offers gradual tan development without turning your hands orange! You can build, accelerate or extend your South Seas spray tan with daily use.
