Staying Beautiful on the Go!

July is a great time for fun in the sun! You’ve worked so hard all year and now it’s time for that oh so well deserved vacation. While it’s nice to travel and play fancy free, a break in routine and change in climate can really wreak havoc on the hair and skin. How can you enjoy your vacation without negative consequences on your beauty? With proper planning, your vacation will go off without a hitch or zit!

The closer you can stay to your normal routine, the better. If you are traveling by plane, it’s important to remember to carry 3 oz travel size containers that can be put into a ziplock baggie, so you can pass through airport security. Stop by the spa to get your travel kit size products. Reserve Now

It’s essential to keep your skin and hair well hydrated, even more so if you are going to spend time in the sun, whether it’s in the sand or snow. It’s good to choose a moisturizer that includes sun protection with at least an SPF of 15. Be sure to apply it often, since as you sweat they can wear off. Make sure you also drink plenty of water to replace any fluids lost through sweat and sun. Before you go on your trip, visit the spa for a nice hydrating facial, body scrub, manicure, pedicure, and waxing. This will get you feeling good and confident to put on that bathing suit and look your very best!

As well, it’s good to get a trim and deep conditioning treatment for your hair prior to your trip. This will keep it healthier, and help it to hold up to the sun and any salty seabreeze. While away, it’s best to use a conditioner everday. Be sure to take along sunscreen to apply to your hair too, so as to keep the color from fading and protect it from drying out. Remember to buy your sunscreen from the spa and pack it in your checked-in luggage.

It seems our skin picks up more dirt while on vacation. Perhaps this is due to spending more time outdoors; regardless, nobody wants dirty skin leaving them with clogged pores. Toner is great for a quick clean-up, a quick wipe with a toner soaked cotton pad will keep your skin looking fresh and clean.

Choose less fuss and more fun! Try to keep makeup to a minimum and more natural. Heavy makeup can crease and smudge. Instead, use a light tinted moisturizer and a moisturizing lip balm. Eye drops can sooth the eyes and keep them looking bright. This way, you won’t have to spend so much time in the mirror and can instead enjoy the scenery of your getaway destination.

Going away doesn’t have to mean going rough. With the right planning, you can enjoy your vacation with ease, so you come back looking and feeling refreshed, rejuvenated, and glowing. Besides, taking good care of your skin leads a long way to lasting beauty! Your esthetician can help you pick out the right skin care products, as well as advise you on how to care for your complexion on the go. Call or visit the spa for a consultation today; it will take the stress of planning your trip totally away! Reserve Now

Best Defense Against Aging

With age comes wisdom, but let’s face it, nobody wants to get old. At least, nobody wants to have the signs and suffering that come with getting old, such as wrinkles, and diseases. With so many anti-aging products on the market, it can be dizzying trying to figure it all out. Besides, many of those over the counter products are not very effective. In this article we are going to help you make certain lifestyle changes to slow the aging process and look more youthful.

One of the biggest culprits of aging are free radicals. Free radicals come from many of the foods we eat, as well as through normal processes, such as digestion. They also come from external sources, such as pollution, smoking, second hand smoke, chemicals in our food and environment, and more. Antioxidants combat free radicals.

Antioxidants can be found in many fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as some dairy. Foods with high antioxidant value are avocados, blueberries, green tea, nuts, legumes, yogurt, and more. It is best to eat at a colorful variety of least 5 fresh fruits daily. It is also very important to remain hydrated, so drink at least eight 8 oz glasses of water daily. Water purifies the body!

Reduce your calories. It has been long held that those with a reduced caloric intake live longer. Recent research studies have shown that to be true also in rodents and primates. This is not about weight loss, although that is an added benefit. The key is to eat fewer calories, while maintaining a regular balance of vitamins, minerals and other essential nutrients.

While eating healthy foods aids in fighting aging from within, many of those can also be used externally to further aid in the process. Used topically, green tea helps reduce the amount of UV rays absorbed into the skin, as well it helps fight the damage already done to the skin. Yogurt, avocado, honey and other foods are also great to use as masks to reverse damage to the skin. Proper skin care is good method of reducing the effects of free radicals. Bring your products into the spa and we will conduct an analysis for you and make professional recommendations. Also, treating yourself to an exfoliating and hydrating facial regularly will really reduce any physical signs of aging. Click here or call the spa to reserve your product assessment and treatment appointment.

Another area to consider, when wishing to prolong youth and life itself, is exercise. When we exercise regularly, we keep our body in better condition and it has a way of fighting off the process of aging and many diseases. In this aspect, we can avoid the frailty that comes with the aging process. A good cardio workout keeps the heart strong, along with the other muscles in the body. This not only affects the inner workings of the body, but also the appearance.

Wear your rose colored shades! Those who keep a positive outlook on life, remain more youthful and live longer. The reason is they have less stress! Stress is number one in leading to faster aging and diseases. You have a choice in what you do with it. If you allow life’s challenges to get to you, then you are lowering your immune system and causing damage to your heart and other organs. Rather than letting stress sit in your heart and mind, accept life’s challenges for what they are, deal with them, and let go!

Incorporating these changes into your lifestyle will help you to age gracefully and live longer. The power is within your reach, so take charge now! You will be so thankful you did later. Live long and prosper!

What are the benefits of threading my eye brows as opposed to waxing them?

Threading is ideal for those with thinner, more sensitive skin; or anyone using retinols or prescription acne products. Sometimes waxing can cause dermabrasion on more sensitive skin types or skin that has been compromised by what we just mentioned. A dermabrasion looks like a burn, stings and sometimes will scab. It’s best to try and avoid this. Be sure to let your Esthetician know if you start any new topical skin creams for acne or anything with retinA.

Never tried threading? You should try it, you'll love it!
