To all of our Moms and Teachers:
I think when it comes to the heart of being a truly honorable parent or teacher, David Thomas said it best  when he stated, "Unselfish and noble actions are the most radiant pages in the biography of souls." Another one of my favorite mom quotes was by Tenneva Jordan, who said, "A mother is a person who seeing there are only four pieces of pie for five people promptly announces she never did care for pie." Isn't that just so true?

Be sure to check out the helpful article on choosing the ideal gift for your mom. She will love receiving one of these unique gifts on her special day!

5 Perfect Gifts for the Mom Who Has Everything

momMother's Day is a wonderful time to let our own mothers and all those who "mother" know that they are special and loved. But, for those of us on the giving end of the equation, it can be difficult to figure out what to give to the woman who already has everything! If you're feeling a little stuck on gift ideas, check out the list below for some unique, thoughtful ideas!

1. A Clean House: Whether she works or stays at home, keeping the house clean is a task for any mom. With Mother's Day coinciding perfectly with spring, why not hire a professional housekeeper to do a deep cleaning for her? With all the dusting, mopping, and vacuuming done, she will have far more hours in the day to focus on what is important: Herself and her family.

2. A New Family Portrait: Getting the whole family together for a portrait can be a hassle, but what mother doesn't want to have a beautiful, professional picture of her loved ones to show off to everyone? Perhaps you can schedule time with a professional makeup artist before the shoot so she looks her very best!

3. A Jar Full of Memories: One of the best gifts a mother can ever receive is the knowledge that she is loved and appreciated. So, try this on for size: Get a large glass jar and tie a large bow or decorative ribbon around it. Then, have all the family members write their favorite mom related memories on brightly colored paper. Fold the papers in half and fill the jar to the brim. Then, whenever Mom needs a reminder of how special she is, she can reach into the jar and read one of the memories.

massage4. An Indulgent Day for Her:  Of course, an indulgent day at the Spa is always a great option or addition to any gift! We are always happy to create the perfect day for Mom to de-stress and indulge. Call us to plan the perfect day, or stop in for a gift card so she can plan the perfect day for herself!

5. Something She Would Never Buy Herself: We all have things we want but would never buy for ourselves. Something she's always talked about, but would never do for herself. Just knowing that you noticed something she likes and cared enough to give it to her on her special day will mean the world to her.

Send Your Graduate Off in Style!

graduateIt's May, a time for new beginnings! Graduation season is upon us, and it is such a special time. Do you remember your own graduation? I am sure that you have someone special in your life who is about to graduate! Whether they are graduating from high school, college, or graduate school, no doubt that some amazing new adventures await them! At this important moment in their life, rather than the standard savings bond or book, wouldn't you love to give them a gift they will appreciate and use? Check out the list below for some great ideas that are sure to make the graduate in your life feel special and appreciated, and contribute to their success wherever they may be headed!

1) Makeover: Men and women alike -everyone loves a new look. For your graduate, perhaps a new hairstyle would be a great start to a new chapter in her life. Or, if you want to be sure that their skin is bright, fresh, and blemish free, help them find a skincare regimen that works. Perhaps a series of facials for over the summer would be a perfect gift!

2) Professional Makeup Session: So many young women learn how to apply makeup by watching their mother, or their friends, and they seldom know what products will highlight their own best features. Now is the perfect time to take them to a professional who can help them establish a good, everyday look so that they are always putting their best face forward!

grad gifts3) New Wardrobe: Let's face it- what you wore in college would not have translated well into a career, and what you wore in high school does not often translate well to college. No matter what new adventure your graduate is headed off to, a new wardrobe is a perfect gift. Perhaps you can take them shopping with you, or contact a nearby boutique or department store for a consultation.  Many of these shops have complimentary professional shoppers who can help your graduate achieve the perfect look that projects confidence and grace.

4) Emergency Box: Sometimes life gets away from you and all of a sudden you realize that you are out of shampoo, and there is no time to pick up a new bottle today. Yikes! This is why an "Emergency Box" is a great gift for any graduate. Gather together some of their favorite things - candies, snacks, a movie, a candle with their favorite scent - and some of the essentials - hair and skin care, ibuprofen for those long nights, extra laundry detergent, etc. - and pack it up in a plastic bin. Mark it "Open In Case of Emergency." They will be thrilled to know that you thought ahead and are still taking care of them even though they may be far away.

5) Gift cards: These are one of best gifts a person can get when starting a new chapter in life! If there is a restaurant near their new home that they love, grab them a few gift cards to use when they're too tired to make dinner for themselves. Or, does your graduate love getting a massage? Call to pick up a few gift cards for them. They'll make a wonderful graduation gift, and it will be great for you to know that your present will help them adjust and de-stress in their new home.

No matter what gift you choose for your graduate, no doubt that they will appreciate and love you just because you thought of them!

Grilled Salmon with Avocado Salsa

With warmer weather comes so many opportunities to get outside for a good meal. Fire up the grill and enjoy this delicious recipe. Salmon is full of wonderful nutrients and a special fat called EPA that combats and reverses fatigue!

salmonIngredients (for 4 people):

2 lbs salmon, cut into 4 pieces
1 tbs olive oil
1 tsp salt
1 tsp ground coriander
1 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp paprika powder
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp black pepper

Avocado salsa
1 avocado, peeled, seeded and sliced
1 small red onion, sliced
3 mild hot peppers, seeded and de-veined, diced or sliced
Juice from 2 limes
 3 tbs olive oil

2.   Pre-heat the grill.
3.   Combine the avocado, onion, hot peppers, cilantro, lime juice, olive oil and salt in a bowl and mix well. Chill until ready to use.

Ask a Therapist

Why do I get these white bumps on my face?

carrieThe white bumps on your face are clogged pores trapped under a layer of skin. The technical term is Milia.  Milia is more difficult to extract then a blackhead or other breakouts. A professional must clear Milia. Reserve a facial and we will take care of them for you. To avoid them in the future,  bring the products you are currently using so we can assess them and recommend the right products for your skin type.  To avoid Milia it's wise to exfoliate at least 1-2 times per week and reserve a facial with a peel every 4-6 weeks.  This regimen will help you maintain beautiful looking skin that's free of Milia.
